A brand new world open for colonization. A way to start over with a clean slate. A planet called Pern.
Pern. A planet with many positives and very few known negatives. For 8 years they flourished on this land that has almost every thing that they ever wanted. A new planet to explore and colonize with millions of acres of land to support their every need and a world free of the terror and hardships of war.
But when a terrible menace called Thread, an almost evil substance that feeds on and destroys any thing organic, descends on them things start to look very grim on their new home. With the help of a species of small fire-breathing dragonets they are able to fight off the Thread. But the Tread continues to fall but they continue to fight it. But how long can they keep it up. The only way to survive is to find or create something that will be able to fight Tread, is intelligent, though even fairly intelligent would suffice, and can be controlled by people. Since there were no such creatures to be found they put their best genetic engineers to work.
After months of hard work the first clutch of genetically engineered dragons hatched. Each of the 18 dragons chose a person to care for them and eventually ride them. 18 dragons and 18 riders destined to fight Thread. But will it be enough? 6:42 PM
