Claidi grew up as a maid to one of the princesses of The House, a refuge in the middle of the Waste. She was taught that the Waste was a place were only huge beasts live. But when a stranger turns up, she thinks to herself, "Could there be life out in the Waste. Claidi helps him escape from the House and they flee. What things await them? And is every thing as it seems? Is the desert really deserted?
This book was the first book I read in my sixth grade school year. It was great.
