This book is about the attack on Pearl Harbor. Adam is a boy that is always moving. Adam's dad is in the navy and is never in the same place for long. Now Adam and his family are in Honolulu. One day Adam and some friends go fishing when they hear the roar of plane engines overhead. But they are not American planes but Japanese. Suddenly he sees his fathers ship sink under the waves. Adam is desperate to learn more about the war and his father. Mistaken for a sailor he helps the wounded sailors to safety. But none of them were his father. One sailor was s burnt that his skin came off in Adam's hand. One ship no one even tried to look for survivors. It was the Arizona. And guess which ship was Adam's father's. Yes, it was the Arizona. Adam just wants to know one thing. Is his father alive.

Title: The Journey

This book is the first sequel to The Capture. In this book Soren and his friends after escaping from St. Aggie's they continue on to the Great Ga'hoole Tree. But on the way they encounter a fierce attack by crows, the enchanted Mirror Lake, and a raging blizzard. But they have help along the way to get them out of trouble. They got out of the crow attack by working together to drive them off. The only problem with the Mirror Lake was that the owls would not see the truth. They almost completely forgot their quest. Soren almost forgot his family! It took Soren's family's nest maid to knock them out of it and clear their heads. They didn't have much help during the blizzard but some puffins helped them back on the right track. They finally reach the Great Ga'hoole Tree. But Soren can't help but wonder if he will ever see his family again.

Title: The Capture

When Soren, the Barn Owl, is kidnapped from his home, before he can even fly, he is taken to St. Aegolius Academy for Orphaned Owls. There he Gylife, the Elf Owl, and Hortense, the Spotted Owl. The owls weren't even allowed to ask questions and had to sleep at night. They know they must learn how to fly if they are ever to escape. But long before they were ready Hortense is pushed off a cliff and dies. Soren and Gylife know they must escape soon. Finally they succeed. Then they meet up with Twilight, the Great Gray Owl, and Digger, the Burrowing Owl. Together they join forces and head for the Great Ga'hool Tree. But have they really escaped St. Aegolius?

In this book Soren learns how to be a leader. He helps keep the band together and give them hope. When in trouble the others look to him because of his courage, intellect, and kindness. All of these empower him to new and greater triumphs.
