Rating: 5
In this book the founder of Redwall Abbey, Martin the Warrior, comes to Mossflower Woods for the first time. At the time Mossflower was ruled by Lord Greeneyes a wildcat. Greeneyes had two heirs, Tsarmina and Gingivere. Tsarmina and the vixen fox Fortunata had a plan to kill Tsarmina's father and get rid of her father at the same time. The vixen told Gingivere to feed Lord Greeneyes some medicine that was really poison. Elsewhere Martin was captured by Greeneyes solders and brought to the lord's chamber. Tsarmina broke Martin's sword that his father had given to him and Martin was put in the dungeons. Later Lord Greeneyes died from the poison and Gingivere was blamed and put in the dungeons as well. Tsarmina was now the queen. Luckily Gonff, Prince of Mouse thieves, was captured and thrown in Martin's cell. Gonff's woodland friends gave Gonff the tools to escape. They got away and joined the woodlanders. Thinking that the woodlanders only hope was Bella of Brockhall's father Boar the Fighter, Martin, along with Gonff and Young Dinny the mole, set out to the fire mountain and home of the bager lords, Salamandstrong. During their absence the woodlanders plan to flood the wildcat's palace, Kotir. Will either plan work? Will Mossflower gain it's freedom? Find out in Mossflower.
