Title: The Egyptian Cinderella

Author: Shirley Climo

Rating: 3

Rhodopis, the main character, was taken from her home in Greece as a child. She was then sold in Egypt as a slave. The Egyptian servant girls always made Rhodopis do lots of work. Her friends were the animals and she loved to dance with them after her work was done. One day after her master had woken from his nap he saw Rhodopis dancing. He decided to give Rhodopis a pare of beautiful slippers. The servants were even more jealous, so they gave her even more work to do. When the Pharaoh was going to hold a great party the servants did not let Rhodopis go. After the other servants left a falcon stole one of Rhodopis's slippers. The falcon took the slipper to the palace and dropped it in the Pharaoh's lap. The Pharaoh decided to marry the one who owned the slipper. After he arrived at Rhodopis's home the Pharaoh saw Rhodopis and she owned the slipper. So they got married and they lived happily ever after.
